Today marks four years since I filed for my business license with the state. Four whole years!
If you hadn't noticed, I have learned a lot in that time. I work really hard to be very good at what I do. I am not a half-ass kind of person and I am going to make sure I can do a good job. I take every opportunity to learn something and I invest in my education. Skill and practice are integral to doing my job well.
I have also learned a lot about being a professional and running a business. It is definitely not for the faint of heart! My hours are inconsistent, my profits are offset by taxes and costs, I have only myself to hold me accountable. Sometimes I am required to put on a brave and polite face even when I feel completely taken advantage of. But it is extremely important to me to run my business ethically and professionally.
Everything is harder when you are self-employed... but that makes it so valuable to me. I do a happy dance (inside) every time I book a client. I get excited knowing that someone saved up to be able to schedule with me. Each positive review and happy response to my photos fuels my motivation.
I need to say the BIGGEST thank you to all of my wonderful clients.
Thank you for believing in me, for trusting me, for picking me.
Thank you for shopping local, supporting small and putting your hard earned dollars back into the local economy.
Thank you for choosing to value photography, to seek quality and to prioritize a professional experience.
Thank you for allowing me to document your special moments, your family members, your pets, your businesses, your wonderful faces and your exciting events.
Here’s to another successful four years!
