Peanut and Butters. Pet Portraits. Guinea Pig Photography in Toledo Ohio.

From Jessica:

Guinea pigs have a special place in my heart. As one of the first pets I could truly call my own, guinea pigs taught me so much about animal care, and have helped me realize my love for working with animals of all sizes. Our brand is built around the value that pets have for their humans, and the importance of documenting them. Often times, smaller animals get overlooked for the important role they play in our lives, and the joy they bring. Members of the rodent family have shorter life spans. There are people who think this gives them less value, but having a pet that is time-limited makes those moments even more precious.

We have had many different types of creatures in our studio, but these were the first guinea pigs. Every time we bring in a new animal, we learn more about that specific animal or breed, how to best prepare the studio for their visit, and we always end up wanting to take them home with us. Having small pets in the studio is a bit different from having a dog or a cat come in for photos. Small pets can be more nervous, and their small size means you have to keep good track of them. Lucky for us, Peanut, and Butters were extremely well behaved. My guinea pigs would have never been as well behaved and comfortable in a new environment. Not all pets are comfortable with new places, but we do our best to insure a relaxed and safe environment for any creature that comes into our space.

Get to know Peanut and Butters:

  • Tell us about their personalities. Each pig has their own unique personality. Butters is the boss and more independent. He’s very laid back and all he wants is food and a comfy place to sleep. Peanut is much more outgoing and curious. He is a sweet, happy pig that loves attention and zoomies are a daily occurrence. Both pigs are very food motivated and their favorite snack is kale. Their personalities are what make them different and they each have their own voices and squeaks.

  • How do they enrich your life? These pigs enrich my life so much. I knew going into it that Guinea pigs were a lot of work but after working at Petsmart, I fell in love with them. I look forward to seeing them when I get home from work and they get snuggled everyday (although Butters would be happy to skip the snuggles). I love to just sit by their cage and watch them play. They only sleep about 4 hours a day so they are almost always busy and they are so much fun to have and watch their personalities grow.

  • Why is having professional photos of them special to you? Having professional photos of them is so wonderful. I was unsure going into the shoot how the pigs would behave and wondered how the pictures would turn out but Rebecca and Jessica did such an amazing job capturing their personalities. My pigs had a so much fun at the shoot and I love having that happy moment captured.
