Now you get to be involved in choosing the winner! All participants were required to post their pet with a brief bio on our Facebook page. How do they win? You get to read all the introductions to these Toledo area pets and cast your vote through the form below! Entrant with the most votes wins! Choose who you think is most adorable. most deserving, or who you’d most like to see with professional photos. You can vote once per day through February 21st.
1. Buttercup
Recently rescued psycho that’s cute as a button. Severe separation anxiety. Naughty but so so so sweet. She is a Maltese-ish. Named Buttercup 7 months ish. she’s sweet but she psycho is her favorite song.
2. Isla
Isla is a 1.5 year old Shepadoodle (German shepherd poodle) She is the kindest girl and a certified therapy dog!
3. Angel
Meet Angel. She is a retired therapy dog. She's 13yrs old English black lab. We got Angel when she was a year old. She was the shy puppy in the corner who would just watch everything around her. We did a lot of research before we made our decision to get a dog. We were looking for a breed that would be observant to our needs and we could make sure fit our lifestyle. Turns out we needed her. My daughter was 4yrs old and would sleep walk almost every night. At times it was scary because our daughter would try to exit our house to go outside. We had alarms and locks on the doors to wake us if the doors open. Angel's first night with us, our daughter was sleep walking and tried to go out the back door. Angel only a yr old followed our daughter around and started barking. It woke us up, and Angel was pacing back and forth between our daughter and the Door. We knew that night Angel would be by our daughters side and help watch over her. When our daughter started school I would take Angel to work with me daily. We would visit the elderly and encourage patients during their physical therapy sessions. Angel's personality is very vocal, when she has something to say she stomps her feet, and is very vocal. She loves pizza, bacon, veggies.
4. Nigel (Moo)
Moo is 14 and he's slowing down some, it breaks my heart. But then he reminds us, that just because he has arthritis, mild glaucoma and isn't as steady...he's still a good boy! We rescued him when he was 9 months old, no papers on him but he's an English Setter though a friend of ours said he looks like a Luellen Setter. He had been pulled from a kill shelter, adopted and returned 3x before we got him at 9 months old! He's been my best boy ever since! He is a complete love bug and goof ball! One funny thing about him is that he doesn't care for toys! Treats all day, but never cared to play with toys or a ball! I love him so much and appreciate every moment I have with him!
5.Rio
This is my old lady Rio. She’s an 11 year old Mini Pin/French Bulldog. She’s slowed down a lot these last few years but she loves to nap and sit in her chair by the window and keep watch for her arch nemesis the squirrel.
6.Luna
Meet Luna! She’s about 3 months old. She loves to cuddle and to talk. She also love to steal socks and take them into her tunnel. Luna has Wobbly Cat Syndrome, which makes her uncoordinated. When she runs or gets excited, her head bobbles and jerks around, causing her to frequently run in to walls. But we still love her!
7. Saber
Hello my names Saber! Short for Sabertooth. I’m about 3 years old and I know I’m part wolf. I don’t know what else I’m mixed with. I love my little human. We are best friends. I love pup cups. Im scared of everything and I almost ran into a UPS truck even though I was scared. I love treatos and belly rubs. I love shocking my humans and watching people walk by my house. Before covid I loved going to puppy play dates. I always love following mommy to the bathroom and not give her any privacy.
8.Odie
Odie! We rescued him from Planned Pethood about 6 years ago. He’s estimated to be 8-9 years old. He’s a Boxer/Dane mix… allegedly He should have been named Chewie as he is super vocal and sounds like Chewbacca when he wants attention!
9. Leela
Leela around 3 years old. Adopted from LC4. Enjoys destroying any toy she can get her paws on, snacking on food, annoying her fur brother Rusty, and cuddling up with her human like a baby after being terror all day.
10. Sherman
Sherman. 8 mo old American Bulldog/ Lab mix. Sherman loves the snow so much that if he gets the opportunity he will run off and play while I attempt to catch him. He is super goofy.
11. Dixie
This is Dixie she is a pit mix and 7 months old. I have been fostering with a local rescue for over 5 years and have never had a “foster fail.” Dixie entered the rescue with her mama and siblings when they were only a week old. Once she was ready she was quickly adopted, only to be returned 3 weeks later. I had an open spot for a foster and took her in. She was fearful, scared, and wanted nothing to do with humans or dogs. Through puppy classes, good manners, and socialization she has come a long way! Something was special about her and I couldn’t let her go, so I adopted her! She is one of the happiest girls and LOVES to play with other dogs. She isn’t perfect, but who is?! She’s continuing to learn that humans are safe, especially with treats in hand.
12. Gigi
This is Gigi, a 12 year old Coton de Tulear. She’s never been one to lick people as much most dogs do but she would give what I call sniffies; she would sniff my face, ears, hair, etc. Better than getting my face wet if you ask me!
13. Mo
This handsome boy is Mo; just turned one. He is a Great Pyrenees/ Labrador mix. He is a great protector and really has taken on that loyalty responsibility like a champ! We have chickens that he loves to help us round up when they escape. He is a gentle giant and will catch and release! We are so thankful he came to our family! He loves couch snuggles the most!
14. Santo
This is Santo, he is a Siberian Husky and is definitely the happiest one in town about the 12”+ of snow these past couple of days! If he isn’t allowed outside rolling in the snow, he is sitting on the couch staring out the window until the next time someone says “who wants to go outside?” And he runs to the back door!
15. Jubilee
This is Jubilee! She is a 2 year old Siamese. She loves to play fetch and is always bringing me pompoms to throw, or hair ties to shoot across the floor for a game of Hairtie Hockey! She also likes to do “surprises” on her friends, where she hides and jumps out at the last minute. She is very talkative, but has a perpetual kitten voice! While she can be selective with her affection, she is always ready to do a snuggle and purr herself to sleep at bedtime. I love my Juju!
16. Boomer
This is Boomer, 2.5 year old black AKC Labrador retriever. He is a trained waterfowl and upland retriever, but will come home and snuggle right up on your chest on the couch. He’s as smart as he is photogenic!
17. Titan
This is Titan! He is a pomhuahua! Friendly, lovable, and energetic! Titan is 11 months old and loves to play games with his human friends!
18. Kratos
This is Kratos, Aka Fat Boy, he is a bull mastiff and his birthday is in 6 days, he’ll be 12 years old don’t think you’re going to enjoy a meal without him because he will put his head on the table and beg until you give in and if you don’t, he’ll go lay down and bark and mumble under his breath to make you feel bad He loves to steal sweet snacks (chocolate chip subway cookies are his favorite) and hides the evidence under his bed and behind the couch. He very much has a sassy, independent grandpa vibe going on but we’re all here for it
