I will remember always that marriage, like life, is a journey - not a destination - and that its treasures are found not just at the end but all along the way.
Outdoor weddings always make me happy. There is a risk involved in regards to weather. My own husband and I discussed having an outdoor wedding ceremony but we decided that the stress of the rain possibility was not something we wanted to confront. However, I completely admire all of my couples who have beautiful weddings outside. I have photographed weddings in barns, fields, forests, and backyards. Like this wedding, some of my wedding photography has happened near a pond or a lake. I even photographed a wedding on a college campus in 2018.
Amie and Anthony did things right. They had a beautiful location that was large enough to accommodate all their guests. They had tents covering the dance floor and the dinner seating. The tents also offered a backup plan for the ceremony in case it was raining. There was an endless supply of cold drinks to combat the summer heat and everyone had a wonderful time. I would like to share three tips for any couples who are planning an Ohio wedding outside in the summer.
Have a backup plan: A tent, a barn, an indoor chapel. Make sure if it is a complete downpour, you have somewhere else to get married.
Plan for your guests comfort: Grandma may not be able to sit in full sun in 95 degree heat for your 40 minute ceremony without compromising her health and comfort. Choose a location that has a reasonable amount of shade or provide umbrellas for guests in the sun. Making sure you have enough seats for guests is also important.
Hydrate: Water, water, water. Have water coolers easy to find so that everyone stays cool.
