We might trick you into thinking our sessions go smoothly. We might make you feel like our subjects are perfectly behaved models. Today, we want to share the reality of pet photography.
We get to see the goofy bloopers from our sessions but we don’t often share them in our portfolio. It’s time to pull back the curtain and let you giggle with us over these truly adorable fails. Do we always get nice photos at our sessions? Yes. Is it easy or predictable? Never. Do the pets behave? Hardly!
We get trampled, sat on, barked at, and climbed over. We clean pee off the floor, dust hair off our furniture, and wash many drool stains from our clothes. We chase them around, beg them to sit still, and often have to out-stubborn them. Some days we spend half the session playing or walking the pets, to get them to a point where they can focus for just a second. We yell, make weird noises, and spend a lot of time on the ground to get a chance at one decent photo.
What else do we do? We create priceless keepsakes of the animal companions that enrich our lives. We get to know each animal’s needs, and backstory to give them the best possible experience. We document the heart connection between a pet and their family. We fall in love with every creature we meet.
